Dave's Music
I am a big music freak! I play drums and used to be in a band called Dead Circus. Yes,
it's a very bad name. Perhaps that had something to do with our lack of success?
I am into various types of music including (but not limited to):
- Jazz
- Hard Rock
- Heavy Metal
My favorite artists include:
- Rush - Some of the most talented musicians in rock. I have seen Rush several times live and every show has been great. My favorite was a show at the E-centre where they jammed on almost every song.
- Miles Davis - Miles is cool. Period.
- Buddy Rich - As a drummer, I can't help but worship at the alter of Buddy!
- Dizzy Gillespie - What can I say...how can you not love a man named Dizzy?
- Thelonious Monk - Jazz Legend. 'Nuff said.
- Dave Brubeck - Take Five is one of my favorite songs of all time. I love songs with intersting time signatures.
- Live - These guys are from nearby and they make great music.
- Dave Mathew's Band - Very talented group that mixes rock and jazz, my two favorite forms of music. They were great at the Vet in Summer '99 (Veteran's Stadium, Philadelphia, PA for all you non-Philly types)
- Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Californication is some of their best work, IMHO.
- Sound Garden - Before there was Nirvana, Seattle had these guys. Another band willing to play in something other than 4/4 time signature.
- Spin Doctors - Another great band that mixes styles. They put on a great show at the E-centre awhile back.
- Rage Against the Machine - Metal and Rap and a lot of political anger. Great for getting your frustrations out!
- Alice in Chains - Heirs to Black Sabbath's gloom rock throne. What can you expect from a Seattle band?
- Audio Slave - Sound Garden + Rage Against the Machine = Good Music! I thought their second album was even better than the first.
- Tool - Heavy and angry music
- Staind - Heavy, angry, and sad music
- A Perfect Circle - More melodic then Tool; great music just the same!
- Tori Amos - Great voice, great piano.
- ...and many others!
